The essential oil compositions of Centratherum punctatum growing wild in Vietnam

ABSTRACT:The essential oils from the aerial parts, leaves, flowers, and stems, of Centratherum punctatum, growing wild in Da Nang, Vietnam, were obtained byhydrodistillation and analyzed by gas chromatography – mass spectrometry. The essential oils were dominated by sesquiterpene hydrocarbons (86.1-92.7%), including β-caryophyllene (25.4-28.3%), cyclosativene (3.6-4.6%), α-copaene (5.5-6.8%), trans-α-bergamotene (4.6-5.6%), (Z)-β-farnesene (6.8-8.4%), α-humulene (6.2-6.9%), germacrene D (5.8-9.7%), bicyclogermacrene (2.2-4.2%), and δ-cadinene (3.3-7.0%).
